I applied “simple” principle today in calling
Today I applied “simple” principal in my call to a gas company.
1st round, my statement goes like this,
Me: “hello, I have a property located at address XXXX; I need a letter stating that there is no active account on this address from June last year; I need it to show the city so I will not be charged for trash service because no one lives there.”
Customer service rep:” What is your name? and the address.”
Me: ” My name spells XXX, but I moved out two years ago.”
rep:” XXXX second floor, right?”
Me: “yes, I need a letter from Spire in order to be exempt from city trash bill”.
Rep: “OK, what is your email address?”
Me: “xxxxx”
Rep: ” You will receive the letter in about 20 minutes”.
20 minutes later, a letter stating ” from XXX to XXX, you have service at this address.”
The letter is useless for my purpose.
I am determined to get this issue done, so I need to call them back. It seemed my communication was ineffective. I should try another way, “to state the purpose of the letter right way.”
2nd round
Me: “hey again. I have a rental property at xxxxx. I need a letter from Spire stating there is no active service at the building since June last year.”
Rep: “what’s your name?”
Me:” I do not live there anymore , moved two years ago. My email address is XXX. I need a letter from Spire stating there is no active at the building since June last year.” I repeated.
I heard clicking at the other end of the phone line. She is typing a message or a letter perhaps? I am glad the message got acrossed.
Rep:” I will send a request to get the letter processed.”
Me: “Thank you, have a nice day.”
This round, I leave out what the letter will do for me. It is irrelevant to the Rep. It is my business only, not hers.
