Kissing a Frog Into a Prince
In the past few months, I have been fretting over some crappy administrative issues at work. Then they spawn their likes. More negative aspects of the job start to scream at me, like 1/3 less pay than a similar position in a similar institution, the department I am in being marginal in the whole school, and all other colleagues except in teaching positions thus lacking a research stimulating and inspiring environment, expensive housing price, on and on. feelings of hopelessness also catch on.
After writing response letters to two excruciatingly critical referee reports to a paper I have been working on for years, it is already 9 pm. I decided to call it a day, turning on Eckhart Tolle on youtube, and went to get clothing out of the washer. After I returned, I caught Eckhart telling the ” kissing a Frog Into a Prince”.
Bingo! Isn’t a Frog symbolizing something undesirable? I am quick to see the undesirable sides of things. Eckhart is so right. I need to “Kiss it into a Prince”. And, a True Prince of my life may come.
Another similar phrase is “Turn Lemon into Lemonade”. Still “Kissing a Frog into a Prince” is so much better because I like lemon despite of its sourness.
